The Ministry of Gender was recently established after the Gender in Development Division (GIDD) from Cabinet Office was merged with the Department of Child Development from the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health, and turned into a full-fledged ministry.

The mandate of The Ministry of Gender is outlined in the Government Gazette No. 183 of 22nd March 2012. Specifically, the portfolio functions of the Ministry are as follows coordinating and monitoring the implementation of:

Another arm that is always there to assist in the fulfillment of the Ministry mandate is that of Cooperating Partners who are always ready to provide support when it is needed at the most critical time.
